PAULDING – On two consecutive Saturdays, Dec. 2 and Dec. 9, Paulding will host a Shop the Square event downtown.

This event, hosted by the Paulding Chamber of Commerce, Friends of the Chamber and the Downtown Revitalization Committee, will draw shoppers to the local scene for products. Hours both days will be 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Shoppers can retrieve a Shop the Square map from any downtown business, as well as gas stations and the chamber office. The map will help guide participants through the vendors and shops set up around the square. It also will provide coupons and the locations of additional businesses to shop. Make sure to pick up a map.

During the Shop the Square event, multiple buildings will be filled with about 20 local vendors selling handmade gifts, food and other products. Breads and Threads, It’s Knott Pottery and Kreations by Kennedy will be just a few of the vendors selling their products.

In addition to the many local vendors set up downtown, many other local retailers are offering deals and specials.

For the kids, Santa Claus will be visiting his workshop downtown in Herb Monroe Community Park on Dec. 2 from 1-3 p.m.

A free gift bag and Christmas CD will be offered to STS shoppers at the Paulding County Area Foundation and Paulding County Economic Development Office while supplies last.

Mikayla Pieper, chamber director, says that a huge thanks goes out to Paulding County Area Foundation, radio station My 102.7 and the Paulding County Progress for their involvement with promoting Shop the Square.

Members of the organizing committee are chairman Jill Strahley, Renee Boss, Pam Dempsey, Susan Paulus and Mikayla Pieper.

“Friends of the Chamber and Downtown Revitalization wanted to organize an event to attract shoppers to downtown Paulding to make vacant buildings useful and promote local artisans and vendors,” said Strahley.

“The goal is to develop an ongoing event with vendors throughout the year and attract tenants to the downtown,” she added.

Come on out and join in for some great buys just in time for the Christmas season.
