DONALD BAER 1933-2017

PAULDING – The Rev. Donald E. Baer, age 84, died Tuesday, Dec. 5.

He was born Jan. 13, 1933 in Scott, the son of Merrill and Sarah (Mason) Baer. On Jan. 25, 1957, he married Miriam L. Bollinger, who survives. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a long-time teacher for Paulding Exempted Village Schools, Defiance Jr. High School, and a substitute teacher for Wayne Trace High School. He was graduated from Findlay College and Grace Seminary College and was instrumental in starting PC Workshop, Paulding. He was a member of the former Calvary Bible Church, Paulding, Van Wert Calvary Evangelical Church, and Van Wert Post #0178 American Legion. He was a driver’s education teacher.

He is survived by his wife, Miriam Baer, Paulding; two children, Lisa (Mark) Mawer, Acworth, Ga., and Teresa Goodenough, Briceton; grandchildren, Dustan, Mitchell, Currey (Whitney), James, Nathan (Sarah) and Corin; and great-grandchildren, Ryder, Emma Amelia and Andrew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Billy Dean Baer.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8 and also on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
