Veteran works four years to correct buddy's gravestone

By JIM LANGHAM

Feature Writer

When Paulding County veteran Alan Whirrett heard that a buddy from Army Reserves, Robert Boroff, had not been recognized on his grave for his hard-earned sergeant first class (SFC) ranking, he began a trail of hard work and pursuit that led to the installation of a new military plaque on the back of Boroff’s grave.

Monday morning, Whirrett finally received a sense of satisfaction when the plaque was changed; the new one installed reads, “Robert Neal Boroff, SFC U.S. Army, Korea.” The grave is located in the Hedges Cemetery, near Broughton.
