Archers claim sectional title

ANTWERP – The Lady Archers captured their first sectional title since 1998 by outlasting Edon, 30-24, last Saturday night in Bryan.

Antwerp advances to the Archbold Districts to face Pettisville in the semifinals at 6:15 p.m. this Thursday, March 3. The winner will advance to a district final Saturday evening against the survivor of the other semifinal between Toledo Christian and Stryker.

Antwerp’s sectional win over Edon wasn’t easy and it wasn’t pretty. The officials called a very loose game and the resulting rough play affected both teams’ shooting. In addition, Antwerp and Edon played very intense defense. Plus, both teams appeared to have a few butterflies at tournament time.
