A Penny For Your Thoughts

By Nancy Whitaker

One of my earliest memories of food is that jar of delight known as peanut butter. When growing up, toast, bread or crackers were not served or eaten without peanut butter.

I remember that there used to be a corner drugstore that not only had fountain cokes, but they had a new sandwich called “grilled peanut butter and lettuce.” My mama took me in there and we split a grilled peanut butter sandwich. I thought at that time, “There is just nothing better than this.”
