Paulding County Outdoors

By Duane Bailey

The bluegill is the most popular panfish in America. In fact, it has been said that more anglers fish for bluegills than any other freshwater fish. There are a number of reasons for this distinction, among them being its wide distribution and abundance, sporting qualities and good eating.

Good bluegill fishing can be found locally at Stokely Pond in Paulding County and Oxbow Lake in Defiance County. Many farm ponds also harbor bluegills and are among the best places to fish. Just remember to obtain permission from the pond owner.
