By Dorotha Schaefer The Rack has been around along time, since 1970 to be specific. Facts and figures can be found to prove it due to scrap books filled with past Racks. It is often said that history repeats itself and reading the 6-28-89 issue is proof of that little item. Here, word for word, is part of that column: “Farming this year hasn’t been all that easy. The rain we prayed for so earnestly last year arrived in April and hasn’t quit since. Those planting soybeans here in the last half of June (having given up planting corn saying it is much too late), continue to wonder at the rainfall and lack of sunshine to dry the fields. “ Another interesting bit from that ancient column: “Workmen are erecting a tower that is supposed to climb 300 feet in the sky near Wayne Trace School. A farmer of the area claimed the bean rows are going to be crooked as the planters are too busy watching the tower construction to do a proper job of planting.”
