| Communities for kids taking donations |

By NANCY WHITAKER Progress Staff Writer PAULDING – It is back-to-school time. Time to begin thinking about school supplies and whatever your child needs to get ready for the all important “first day.” But what about the families that cannot afford pencils, a backpack and a new outfit? Communities for Kids is a group of community members who try to ensure that children in need from Oakwood Elementary and Paulding Exempted Village Schools are provided with back-to-school supplies at the beginning of each school year. Donations of supplies, funds or time are graciously accepted. The group was launched a couple of years ago after state budget cuts curtailed Job & Family Services’ ability to provide supplies, fees and clothing for children.
