Habitat for Humanity begins 6th house

By JIM LANGHAM

Feature Writer

Matt Salinas, recipient of the county’s first Habitat for Humanity house in 2000, stood by and watched on Saturday as the county’s sixth recipient, Brandy Highwarden and children Chelsie, Alex and Brandon, broke ground for the house that will be built for their family over the summer months this year in Paulding.

“Words can’t express how much we’ve appreciated that home,” said Salinas. “That house has been such a blessing to us.”

Salinas has lived in the home with his four daughters.

Also present on Saturday was the program’s fifth recipient, Brian and Cami Kline, who live in Haviland and received their home two years ago.

“It feels really good to see someone get a home,” said Cami Kline of the ground breaking. “We’re excited to see it.”
