Newly issued advisory:
GAHANNA, Ohio -- Approximately 1,300 AEP Ohio and outside line resources are committed to restoring power to the 573,000 customers who remain without service from Friday’s catastrophic storm. Confirmed wind speeds were in excess of 80 mph. Earlier today, Ohio Gov. John Kasich declared a state of emergency for the entire state.
Approximately 900 line personnel already are working in affected areas. The remaining resources are en route and will be assigned to affected areas across our service territory. In addition, more than 300 various support personnel are engaged in the restoration effort.
Our latest assessment report shows we have more than 340 distribution circuits out (a distribution circuit will carry anywhere from several hundred to several thousand customers).
We have approximately 60 transmission lines down that feed our distribution system, affecting approximately 390,000 of the total number of customers who lost power because of the storm.
Of the customers who remain without power, more than 312,000 are located in central Ohio. In Franklin County – the hardest hit area – the number of affected customers stands at 198,000.
