As of September 5th Mr. Bennett is still listed in critical condition at Parkview Regional North Hospital. The crash is still under investigation.

JUNCTION – A Paulding County man was critically injured Friday evening in a motorcycle-car crash south of Five Span Bridge.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Van Wert Post is investigating the crash, which occurred at 6:40 p.m. Friday evening on County Road 171 south of the Ohio 637 intersection in Auglaize Township.

The motorcycle driver, Dan Bennett, was transported via air ambulance to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, where he was listed in critical condition early Tuesday. The Van Wert Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol handled the accident, but had no information at press time on Tuesday. Oakwood EMS also responded.

According to troopers, a 1999 Pontiac Bonneville, driven by Chasity S. Cunningham, of Toledo, was traveling southbound on Road 171 and attempted to turn left into a private drive. A 2000 Buell motorcycle, driven by Daniel W. Bennett, 25, of Paulding County, was northbound. The driver of the Pontiac Bonneville failed to yield to the motorcycle and was struck in the passenger side as it crossed the motorcycle’s lane of travel.

Bennett was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was treated at the scene by Oakwood EMS and flown by Samaritan LifeFlight to Parkview Regional Medical Center and is currently listed as critical.

Cunningham and a passenger, Holly A. Shively, of Toledo, were not injured.

The crash is still under investigation. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.

Troopers were assisted on scene by the Oakwood EMS, Auglaize Township Fire Department, Samaritan LifeFlight, and R&O Wrecker Service of Oakwood.
