|Raiders one step closer to title|
By JIM LANGHAM
HICKSVILLE – Wayne Trace head coach Bill Speller got what he was looking for on Friday night when his Raiders defeated one of two big challenges en route to an undisputed Green Meadows football title with a 22-7 pasting of Hicksville on their own rain-soaked field.
The Raiders jumped out to a 14-0 advantage in the first quarter and extended that advantage to 22-0 at the half to bury the Aces early.
Speller was especially happy with his Raiders’ strong defensive showing. In the first win against Hicksville in five years, Wayne Trace held the Aces to just 65 yards offense.
