PAYNE – Two new fireman, several financial matters including salaries, and the increase in lighting appropriations were part of the Payne Village Council agenda at their bimonthly meeting on Monday night.

Those in attendance were Mayor Terry Smith and Councilmen Ray Speice, Randy Miller, Bill Childs, Eric J. Gross along with Deputy Fiscal Officer Cheryl Halter, Clerk-Treasurer Ron Etzler, Fire Chief Jamie Mansfield and Police Chief Rodney Miller. Council President Ron Schoenauer and Kathy Feasby were absent.

A motion was made to accept Jason Schuerman and Michael Clevenger to the fire department. Both men had completed and passed their physicals and were waiting council approval to join the department. The motion unanimously passed.
