Commissioners’ Journal April 24, 2013

This 24th day of April, 2013, the Board of County Commissioners met in regular session with the following members present: Fred Pieper, Tony Zartman, Roy Klopfenstein and Nola Ginter, Clerk.

MEETING NOTES OF APPOINTMENTS

Aaron Timm, Engineer’s Office - Mr. Timm reported training has been completed for the Auglaize Sewer Project generators. He noted the generators must be ’exercised’ once a year. Defiance County wastewater manager Greg Reinhart will make sure this gets done and will bill the Auglaize Sewer at $40 per hour. Mr. Timm agreed he would make arrangements to transport the generators to Mr. Reinhart for maintenance on a regular basis. Mr. Timm noted the generators are equipped to utilize a block heater for weather. He said the Engineer’s Office would be able to house the generators; however, the storage shed may need electrical upgrades to include additional receptacles for the block heaters

Kevin Hanenkratt - Mr. Hanenkratt met with the Commissioners to discuss the flooring in the public restrooms in the basement of the courthouse. He said he could raise the stools and stall walls to make flooring installation easier. He also suggested cleaning out the piping before new flooring is installed. Mr. Hanenkratt noted he had installed the drainage system around the exterior of the courthouse back in the late 1990s. All rainwater run-off flows to the manhole in the street on the south side of the courthouse.

Phil Jackson - Mr. Jackson met with the Commissioners to discuss the possibility of his son, Luke, using the landscaping of the courthouse as his Eagle Scout project. The Commissioners noted he would have to work around several courthouse projects scheduled for this summer. Mr. Jackson didn’t see that as a problem and will get the necessary paperwork started.

Jim Machock and Carrie Briggs, Wells Fargo Insurance Services - Mr. Machock and Ms. Briggs distributed reports for review regarding renewal quotes for the 2013-2014 coverage year.

Kris Gerken, Huntington Insurance - Mr. Gerken presented a health insurance quote from Medical Mutual. He had several options/plans to compare. Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and flexible spending plans were also discussed.
