PAULDING – The following press release was issued by the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office at about 6:56 a.m. today:

 

At approximately 9:11 p.m. on July 2, 2013, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Road 95 south of Road 60 in Blue Creek Township northwest of Haviland for a suicidal subject armed with a gun.

The situation turned into a barricaded subject with firearms, and several hours of negotiations ensued. The Allen County Ohio Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team was called for mutual aid. Eventually deputies made entry to secure the male subject where shots were fired. The subject was shot by deputies and is currently being treated for injuries.

The crime scene is being processed by Ohio Bureau of criminal Investigations Crime Scene Investigations Unit at this time. No further information is being released in regards to this investigation at the time of this release.

I will hold a press conference along with Allen County Ohio Sheriff Sam Crish at 11 a.m. today’s date at the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office where more information will be released.
