PAULDING – Friends and family have come together to help raise funds for Doris Antoine. A benefit for her will be held at the Paulding Eagles on March 15.

In the summer of 2013, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Doris and her family were hopeful that she would be able to have surgery and treatment.

The news from the surgeon was devastating. She had only a 10 percent chance of beating the cancer through surgery and recovery would be difficult. Doris chose not to undergo the surgery.

Although she has accepted the outcome, the bills that she faces as the cancer continues to rob her of her health are beginning to mount.

Doris is the daughter of Lawrence and Nettie Vogelsong. She married Ed Antoine on Sept. 15, 1962. Ed worked at Grizzly in Paulding for many years. Ed and Doris also owned and operated Ed’s Lunch for a while in Paulding in the 1980s. Ed’s Lunch was located on the south side of the square.

They have three children, Steve (Dona) Antoine, Kathy (Julian) Martinez, and Amy (Mark) Yenser and they have seven grandchildren.

A corn hole tournament will start at 3 p.m. which will cost $5 per person to enter. Menu of sloppy joes, creamed chicken, hot dogs, baked beans, potato or pasta salad, cookies and brownies will be served from 5-7 p.m.

The DJ will start playing at 8 p.m. There are lots of very nice prizes for the silent auction and raffle including a 40-inch TV, blu-ray player, handmade quilt, handmade wooden angel, Jacob’s Meats for a month package, NASCAR items, and much, much more.

For those cannot attend, but would like to help, an account has been established in the name of Doris Antoine Benefit with the Sherwood State Bank, P.O. Box 4546, Sherwood OH 43556.
