OAKWOOD – “There is something for everyone” is certainly an understatement when it comes to the annual Labor Day weekend homecoming celebration at Oakwood. From a variety of food to a cemetery walk, family entertainment including games and movies to races on the river, Oakwood will set the stage for what will not only be a time to celebrate 125 years of memories but to make new ones as well.

PAULDING – On Monday morning, Paulding County commissioners signed a contract with Grunwell-Cashero, Toledo, for restoration of crucial Paulding County Courthouse repairs.

The cost of restoration will be $92,400 and is to be completed in 14 weeks, or 98 days. Commissioner Tony Zartman said that the agreement is based on completing the project before the winter season sets in. He anticipates that work will begin soon.

Deb Hubbard of Paulding Soil and Water Conservation District weighed in on the Lake Erie Nutrient Reduction Program (LE NRP) recently.

She said it is a voluntary program that cost shares with farmers to plant cover crops or install drainage management devices such as controlled drainage structures or blind tile inlets.

Oakwood F.D. breakfast set

OAKWOOD – Oakwood Fire Department will host its annual breakfast from 7-11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30. The menu will include pancakes, sausage, biscuits and gravy. The station is located at 201 N. Sixth St., Oakwood.

 

Factory farm opponents to meet Sept. 2

PAULDING – The next meeting of those favoring “no more factory farms” will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2 at the Black Swamp Nature Center in Paulding. The guest speaker and consultant will be Vickie Askins from Wood County who, along with her husband, has recently filed a lawsuit against the ODA, the Ohio EPA, and the US EPA for violating the Clean Water Act.

 

Senior center to host garage sale

PAULDING – Paulding County Senior Center will hold a huge garage sale from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, Aug. 27-29, Everything sells for a donation. Proceeds go to the senior center. The senior center is located at 401 E. Jackson St., Paulding.

 

Park dedication

PAULDING – Paulding Chamber of Commerce will host a dedication program for the new Herb Monroe Community Park at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3.

 

Blood drive set

PAULDING – An American Red Cross bloodmobile will be held from 11:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4 at Paulding United Methodist Church, 321 N. Williams St. in Paulding. Call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org to make an appointment or for more information.
