GROVER HILL – Mr. and Mrs. Robert Paul Bidlack of Grover Hill will be celebrating 70 years of marriage.
Robert Paul Bidlack and Shirley Ann Thrasher were united in marriage on Oct. 2, 1943, in Covington, Ky.
Paul is a retired farmer and also is retired from B.F. Goodrich in Woodburn.
Shirley is a homemaker and was a talented seamstress. She has enjoyed giving handmade gifts to friends and family during her lifetime.
They have been blessed with six children. They are Connie (Tom) Baldwin of New Haven, Dennis (Cheryl) Bidlack of Van Wert, Paulette (Richard) Stemen of Payne, Patricia Bidlack of Van Wert, Rudy (Ellen) Bidlack of Scott and Jeffrey (Jenni) Bidlack of Grover Hill.
They have 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
They will celebrate the occasion with an open house to be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Wayne Trace Grover Hill Elementary School gym.
A card shower will be held and the couple request no gifts.
PAULDING – Harold and Jackie McDougle celebrated their 25th anniversary on Aug. 27.
Harold McDougle and Jackie Heck were married on Aug. 27, 1988, at their residence by their pond.
They are the proud parents of two daughters, Cassie and Marcie. Harold also has two sons, Brandon and Jason, and two daughters, Jenny and Deanna. The couple has four grandchildren.
PAULDING – Mr. and Mrs. John E. Ganger celebrated 50 years of marriage on June 22.
John E. Ganger and Cheryl Ann Giesken of Paulding, were united in marriage on June 22, 1963, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paulding, by Father Ruess.
Parents of the bride were Aloysius and Opal (Gunderman) Giesken and parents of the groom were Lerenzie and Margaret (Chapke) Ganger, all of Paulding. Serving as bridesmaids were friends of the bride, Mary Ellen Dagger and Mary Ann Gross. The flower girl was sister of the bride, Maralyn Giesken. Groomsmen included the groom’s brother, Roland Ganger and the bride’s brother, Robert Gieske.
John retired from GM Power train in Defiance, following 38 years of service. Cheryl was a homemaker and an in-home childcare provider for 15 years.
They are the parents of three children, John Jr. (Dessie Diehm) of Antwerp, James, who died in a tragic car accident in 1987, and Teresa (Donald) Lippi of Van Wert.
The couple have seven grandchildren, John III, Nathan and Noah Ganger and Khandiss, Donnie, Brandon and Travis Lippi.
The couple celebrated the occasion Sunday, Aug. 18, at a buffet-style dinner party at the Black Swamp Bistro in Van Wert hosted by their children and grandchildren.
PAYNE – Mr. and Mrs. James Overmyer of Payne will soon celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
Jim and Carole (Wood) Overmyer were married Sept. 7, 1963 by Pastor Marvin Biery at the Payne Church of Christ.
He is retired from International Harvester and continues to be a Harrison Township trustee; she is a retired registered nurse from Paulding County Hospital.
They have one son, Wade Allen (Holly) Overmyer of Houston, and two daughters, Dawn Elaine (Eric) Cook of Payne and Krista Lynne (Brad) Volk of Grover Hill. They also have six grandchildren: Eli and Tanner Cook, Hannah, Libby and Patrick Overmyer and Campbell Volk. One grandson is deceased.
They plan a quiet celebration with immediate family later in the fall.
PAULDING – Mr. and Mrs. Ramiro Rodriguez will be celebrating 50 years of marriage on Aug. 24.
Ramiro Rodriguez and Bernadine Gonzalez were united in marriage on Aug. 24, 1963, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paulding by Father Robert Haas.
Ramiro is retired from General Motors following 37 years of service. Bernadine is retired from Sheller-Globe after 33 years of service.
They are the parents of four children, Vince of Hilliard, Rachel (Jerry) Thomas of Bucyrus, and Erika (Todd) Pease of Paulding. A son, Jerald, is deceased.
The couple also have four grandchildren, Justin and Kylee Thomas and Braeden and Piper Pease of Paulding.
They have a great-granddaughter, Ally Vance-Thomas.
Their children and grandchildren will be hosting a party for family and friends on Friday, Aug. 24.
The couple are also planning a boat trip to Tennessee next summer with their children and grandchildren.
ANTWERP — Mr. and Mrs. Francis Coughlin celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Aug. 11.
Francis Coughlin and Bonnie Mettert were married Aug. 11, 1948, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Antwerp by the Rev. John Flynn.
The couple are the parents of seven children, Linda Coughlin of Auburn, Ind., Judy (David) McCalla of Dallas, Deb (Dan) Corwin of Woodburn, Jim (Beth) Coughlin of Antwerp, Denny (JoAnn) Coughlin of Antwerp and Amy (Mitch) Wilhelm of Paulding. A daughter, Christine, is deceased.
They marked the occasion with a Mass of Thanksgiving on Aug. 11 at the Divine Mercy (formerly St. Marys) Catholic Church in Antwerp, followed by a brunch at Grant’s Reception Hall with their family.
SHERWOOD – Mr. and Mrs. Victor Bennett will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 10.
Victor Bennett and Janet Musselman were married on Aug. 10, 1963, by the Rev. Gilmore Creelman at the First Presbyterian Church in Cecil.
He is retired from the B.F. Goodrich Company and Zachrich Construction.
She is retired from the K-Mart Corporation.
The couple are the parents of two sons, Steve (Amy) Bennett of Sherwood and Jeff Bennett of Defiance; a daughter, JaNann (Naylan) DeVaux of Sherwood; and a daughter, Shelley, is deceased.
They also have two grandchildren.
The couple will celebrate the occasion with a family gathering and dinner.
GROVER HILL – Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Nickols will be celebrating 15 years of marriage on June 27.
The couple will be renewing their vows at 3 p.m. June 30, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
There will be a luncheon barbecue following the ceremony. All friends and family are welcome to come and share in this event.
Mt. Zion United Methodist Church is located on Road 151, outside of Grover Hill.
PAYNE – Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mutschelknaus celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 8.
Bob Mutschelknaus and Marilyn Bendele exchanged wedding vows on June 8, 1963, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paulding.
They are the parents of two children, Julie Brokamp of Lexington, Ky. and Mike Mutschelknaus of LaCrosse, Wis.
They have been blessed with four granddaughters, Sarah and Emily Brokamp of Lexington, Ky. and Emma and Natalie Mutschelknaus of LaCrosse.
The couple celebrated the occasion with a reception hosted by their children, at the Diving Mercy Catholic Church Hall in Payne.
PAULDING – Harley and Jacki Dunakin will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary on June 2.
Harley Dunakin and Jacki Huebner were married on June 2, 1973, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church by the Rev. Dave Everton.
Harley is retired from General Motors and Jacki worked in a cafeteria.
They are the parents of six children, Harley Dunakin Jr., Dionicia Webster and April Dunakin, all of Paulding, Shawn of Detroit, Erin of Maumee and Storm Dunakin of Fort Jackson, S.C.
The couple have 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The couple went on a cruise out of Port New Orleans for seven days to celebrate the occasion.
