ANTWERP – Mr. and Mrs. Paul Culler will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on Feb. 11.

Paul Culler and Mary Schilb were united in marriage on Feb. 11, 1953 in the Antwerp United Methodist Church by the Rev. J.E. Turner.

The couple enjoyed raising their children on their farm north of Antwerp. Paul supported his family by working in construction and in farming. Mary was his girl Friday in the construction business and later was employed in the marketing department at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Mary shared her musical talents and her Christian faith by directing the children’s choirs and playing the organ for church and weddings.

The couple have five children, Mike (Jonne) Culler, Susan (Anthony) Marlin, Diane (Ron) Conner, Ruth Knapp and Julie (Todd) Harmon.

The have 11 grandchildren and are expecting their 10th great-grandchild.

They are enjoying their retirement and love to have family and friends come to visit.


Mr. and Mrs. WAYNE ZIELKE PDF Print E-mail

ANTWERP – Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Zielke will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on Dec. 25.

Wayne Zielke and Mary Jane Gilbert were married on Dec. 25, 1952, at the St. John Lutheran Church in Briceton.

The couple enjoyed raising their family on a farm just north of Forder’s Bridge. Wayne also worked as a commercial welder at Challenge Cook Brothers in Bryan. Mary Jane retired from Antwerp Exchange Bank and prior to that was employed by Antwerp Local Schools.

Over the years, the couple loved spending time camping at Silver Lake, Ind, taking trips to Florida in the winter and spending time with their family.

They are the parents of two sons, Jerry (Sue) and John (Darlene) Zielke, both of Antwerp; a daughter, Nancy (Del) McClain of Monroeville, Ind. and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

They will celebrate their anniversary with a Christmas family celebration hosted by their children and families.

Mr. and Mrs. Kevin (Reneé Sheets) West celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on Dec. 16.

They are the parents of two children, Chad (Mandi) West of Dallas and a daughter, Candace West of Warren, Mich.

The couple are expecting their first grandchild in May.

They vacationed in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to celebrate the occasion.

MR. and MRS. JERRY DeLONG PDF Print E-mail

PAULDING – Mr. and Mrs. Jerry DeLong of Paulding, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Jerry DeLong and Brenda Miller were married on Nov. 10, 1962, at the former Paulding Church of Christ by Rev. Zug.

Jerry is retired from the Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne and Brenda is retired from the Paulding County Hospital.

They are the parents of three children, Kevin (Kay) DeLong of New Haven, Ind., David DeLong of Leesburg, Ind. and Debbie (Steve) Thompson of Defiance.

They also have four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

In October, the couple celebrated the occasion with a trip to Lake Tahoe, Nevada and the surrounding areas of Carson City, Virginia City, Reno, Emerald Bay and the D.L. Bliss State Park.

Their children and grandchildren will host a party for them Friday, Nov. 23. Family and friends are invited. They ask that gifts be omitted, but greeting cards will be accepted.

VAN WERT – Orval and Luella (Conley) Mullen are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary with a gathering of family and friends in their home at 10912 U.S. 127, Van Wert, Ohio 45891 on Oct. 28.

They were married Oct. 24, 1942 at the Presbyterian Church in Ottawa by Rev. Gibson Wilson. To this union was born three children, Dr. Orval L. Mullen deceased, James H. Mullen, and Judith (Mullen) Wieging. There are four grandsons, Corry Singer, Troy Singer, Chad Mullen, and Shawn Mullen. They are also loved by their 10 great- grandchildren and their four step great-grandchildren.

Over the years they have loved spending their time together camping and fishing all over including Canada and Michigan, as well as living in Florida. But the one thing they love the most is spending time with the family and friends.


PAULDING – Mr. and Mrs. Antonio Gonzales Jr. are observing their 25th wedding anniversary today.

Tony and the former Christina Merritte were married Oct. 24, 1987 by the Rev. Randall Merritte at the Rose Hill Church of God.

They have a son, Antonio Gonzales III. They are expecting their first grandchild.

To celebrate their special milestone, the Gonzales’ will travel to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, Tenn. and Savannah, Ga.

PAULDING – Mr. and Mrs. Den Adams recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Den Adams and Judith Commers were married Aug. 31, 1962 at the First Christian Church in Paulding.

The couple has three children, Dennis (Lana) Adams, John (Amy) Adams and Tracy (Paul) Roddy. They have six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Paul and Shirley Bidlack were married on Oct. 2, 1943. Their parents were Ray and Edna Bidlack and Dennis and Viola Thrasher all of Grover Hill.

Their marriage resulted in six children: Connie (Tom) Baldwin of New Haven, Dennis (Cheryl) Bidlack of Grover Hill, Paulette (Richard) Stemen of Payne, Patricia Bidlack of Grover Hill, Rudy (Ellen) Bidlack of Scott, and Jeff (Jeni) Bidlack of Grover Hill.

At the present time, they have 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

They have spent all of their married life in the Grover Hill area. Paul supported his family by farming and working at B.F. Goodrich of Woodburn. He taught a Sunday school class almost his entire adult life. He raised his family in the church and was a great example to his children of a Christian man. Several times he donated a pig to be raffled off at Grover Hill’s summer celebration. Shirley was a homemaker and enjoyed lots of needlework and sewing for her family. She has made several quilts for loved ones and her afghans are being enjoyed by many in the community. She also has donated many of her needlework projects to help raise money for the church or for the community. She worked at the Overall Factory in Van Wert and the Dairy Whip in Grover Hill.

They are enjoying their retirement and love having family and friends come to visit. They love to play Euchre with friends and family when they can.

They give thanks to God for his leading them in their marriage and give him thanks for their health, family and friends.

MR. and MRS. JOHN ROSE PDF Print E-mail

ANTWERP – Mr. and Mrs. John “Bill” Rose of 502 Park Ave., Antwerp, will be celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary on Sept. 23.

John Rose and Beverly Eibling were united in marriage on Sept. 23, 1967, at the Payne Church of Christ by evangelist Mark Biery.

They are the parents of three daughters, Tianne (Tad) Pendergrast of Antwerp, Michelle (Mike) Smith of Fort Wayne and Laurie Rose, who is deceased.

The couple also has five grandchildren, Brandon and Jonathon Pendergrast and Dustin, Christopher and Marissa Smith.


PAULDING – Mr. and Mrs. Michael Arend will be celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary on Sept. 30.

Michael Arend and Pamela White were united in marriage on Sept. 30, 1967 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, by Father Mathieu.

Michael has been a CPA at Arend, Laukhuf & Stoller for 33 years.

Pam taught preschool and also worked at Magnavox. She is currently employed part-time at Arend, Laukhuf & Stoller.

The couple are the parents of three sons, Scotty of Paulding, Brian (Teresa) of Perrysburg and Patrick (Danielle) Arend of Huntington, Ind.

They also have four grandchildren, Lucas, Alexandra, Ethan and Nathan.

A family dinner is planned and a trip next year to Providence, R.I.
