What’s happening at your library in September

The Paulding County Library will be closed on Monday, September 2 to observe Labor Day, all locations will open on September 3 normal hours. The library is getting ready for fall activities so be sure to watch for upcoming events. Check out the library for any homework needs, Hot spots-mobile internet devices are available for check out . September is Library Card Sign up month. Get your free library card today and start enjoying what your library has to offer. Watch for the library out at the Flat Rock Creek Fall Festival September 20-22. Stop by the tent and see what we have to offer or just to say Hello.

Antwerp Pharmacy closing

On Sunday, August 25, 2024, another Paulding County pharmacy announced it’s imminent closure. This time it isn’t a corporate bankruptcy forcing the closing. According to a post on their Facebook page, Antwerp Pharmacy is closing due to insurance companies’ policies that disadvantage independently-owned pharmacies.

DARWIN B. RILEY

PAULDING, OH: Darwin B. Riley, age 86, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024 at Parkview Hospital Randallia, Fort Wayne, IN. Darwin was born on June 15, 1938 in Paulding, OH to the late Orville and Valera (Vance) Riley. On September 23, 1961 he married Ursula Goble, who survives. Darwin worked as a self-employed farmer until his retirement in 2018. He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Darwin’s favorite pastimes were horseback riding, farming, and watching all of his grandchildren’s sporting events. Along with his loving wife, Ursula, Darwin is survived by his children: Terry (Stacey) Riley, Paulding, OH; Ryan Riley, Cincinnati, OH; Melinda Riley, Paulding, OH; grandchildren: Jarod Riley, Justin (Courtney) Riley, Dylan Welch, Morgan Riley, Brandon Riley, Leah Riley, Carly Riley; great grandchildren: Cody Riley, Vivienne and Valerie Riley. Darwin is also preceded in death by his daughter, Renee Riley; sisters, Karen Schwab and Marlene Stoller. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at the church at St. Paul Cemetery. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Paulding Township. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Den Herder Funeral Home. There will also be visitation from 9:00 A.M. until time of services on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Darwin’s memory to the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) or the Paulding Veteran’s Memorial Fund. Raiders win first GMC match

WOODBURN – The Green Meadows Conference held its first boys golf match of the season Tuesday night at Pond-A-River Golf Course outside of Woodburn with Wayne Trace taking first place as a team. Raider senior Kyle Sutton claimed match medalist honors with a 38 while teammates Tyson Gerber and Brody Rosswurm both carded a 39 along with Tinora’s Grant Lymanstall.

Dear Divine Mercy Parishioners and Friends, We want to share with you the current status concerning the churches of Saint Mary (Antwerp) and Saint John the Baptist (Payne). Antwerp recap: In December 2022, Bishop Thomas of the Diocese of Toledo issued a decree to close the church of Saint Mary, and the last Mass was held on October 30, 2022.

Kiwanis learn of Lifewise impact

The Kiwanis Club of Paulding County was privileged to have Lisa Laukhuf, Tony Gonzales, Jessica Manz, Katrina Groce, Will Manz, and Amanda Andrews (Teachers, LifeWise) as the guest speakers at the August 15, 2024, club meeting. They all came at the invitation of Traci Koenig (Director, LifeWise Wayne Trace, Paulding Exempted and Antwerp). The teachers spoke to the Kiwanians about LifeWise and the impact that they have seen in the students.
