DOYLE JOHNSON
5/21/1934 – 10/1/2025
Doyle A. Johnson, age 91, of Paulding, OH passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at CHP Inpatient Hospice, Defiance, OH.
Doyle was born in Paulding County, OH on May 21, 1934 to the late Harry and Eunice (Sonnigsen) Johnson. On April 8, 1961, he married Louise (Stouffer) Johnson who survives.
Doyle was a self-employed farmer for 30 years, retiring in 2000. He served his country in the United States Army. In his earlier years, Doyle was a Sohio Fuel Distributor as well as working for Moellering Construction, Fort Wayne, IN and the GM Foundry in Defiance, OH.
He was baptized on April 10, 1935 at the Bethel Forder Methodist Church in Cecil, OH and was a lifetime member of the Paulding United Methodist Church.
Doyle was a 70-year member of the Flat Rock Masonic Lodge #580, F&AM where he was the youngest Worshipful Master at 25 years of age. He was also a 65-year member of the Scottish Rite-Valley of Toledo as well as a 50-year member of the Mizpah Shriners, Fort Wayne, IN and Eastern Star.
He graduated from Paulding High School in 1952 where he played football and was in the band. Doyle attended college classes in Kokomo, Indiana while working construction and obtained his pilot’s license in 1957.
Doyle is also survived by his sons: Dave (Diane) Johnson, Napoleon, OH; Dan (Jill) Johnson, Huntertown, IN, sister, Betty (Ivan) Layman, Cecil, OH; grandchildren, Colin N. Johnson and Bailey M. Johnson; 6 step grandchildren and 15 step great grandchildren.
He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Johnson in 1988; step mother, Rubye (Ptak) Johnson; brother, Richard Johnson; sisters: Jean Rieke, Carol Straley, and Judy Etzler.
Funeral service was Monday, October 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Paulding United Methodist with Rev. George Reed officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Jackson Township with military rites accorded by the Paulding V.F.W. Post #587 honor guard.
Visitation was on Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 2-5 p.m. at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, OH with Masonic services at 4:30 p.m. There was calling one hour prior to the funeral services at church on Monday.
