On 01/15/2025, at approximately 1315 hours, the Defiance Police Department responded to the Ottawa Avenue CSX railroad crossing in the vicinity of Douglas and Hopkins, to a report of pedestrian possibly being struck by a train. Shortly after our arrival, a body was found. The identity of the deceased is pending notification of the family, and the autopsy report, being conducted by the Lucas County Coroner’s Office.
The Paulding Fire and EMS was dispatched to a working fire at 117 W. Perry St. in Paulding, Ohio, at 11:34 a.m. Upon arrival, first responders from the Paulding Police Department, Paulding EMS and the Paulding County ODNR officer helped to evacuate the tenants of the four apartments.

All Aâs Honor Roll
The annual March for Life will be held on January 22 at noon at the Defiance County Courthouse. The march is sponsored by Mother Teresa Respect for Life. The purpose of the March for Life is for participants to walk and stand up for unborn children who cannot speak for themselves. The march will start with prayer by Father David Cirata, pastor of St John St Maryâs Catholic Churches Defiance. Susie Blank will sing the Star Spangled Banner. A police escort will lead participants from the Defiance County Courthouse to the Monument of the Unborn at St Johnâs Catholic Church.Jamie Blank will host the march and lead a prayer for life at the monument.
