Van Wert boy vies for title of Jr. Ranger, with a prize of $20,000

VAN WERT — A Van Wert 11-year-old with autism is in the running to win the title of the 2025 Jr. Ranger, along with a prize of $20,000, a chance to meet television star Jeff Corwin, and a feature in the National Wildlife Federation’s Ranger Rick Magazine, a popular print and online periodical that teaches young kids about nature and the environment.

John W. Lambert was an American automobile manufacturer pioneer and inventor. He is the inventor of the first practical American gasoline automobile. He is also the Father of the Gradual Transmission. In 1891, he built a working gasoline automobile and took it on the streets of Ohio City for experimental drives. On one occasion his vehicle, which was carrying Lambert and James Swoveland, hit a tree root causing the buggy to smash into a hitching post. Injuries from the accident were minor. Toledo Colony Mayflower meets

The Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Ohio - Toledo Colony met Saturday, June 28, 2025 in Bryan, Ohio at 11:30 a.m. at Season’s Coffee & Bistro for a luncheon meeting. After dining, the meeting was opened by Toledo Lt. Governor Edmond Trafford. Officers and Members were introduced and future activities.

Author speaks to Kiwanis

The Kiwanis Club of Paulding County was privileged to have T.R. Echols (Local Author and Pastor) as the guest speaker at the June 12, 2025, club meeting. T.R. Echols came at the invitation of Elecia Wobler (Owner, Keepsake Beads by EAW & Boutique). T.R. Echols spoke about how he transformed his childhood storytelling into a published work that reaches young readers and listeners alike. Inspired by his 3 young boys at the time of creation. His heartwarming tale, Tenuke the Eskimo, is available both as a beautifully bound hardcover edition and as a fully dramatized audiobook featuring Hollywood talent.

Retired Teachers Association to meet July 8

The Paulding County Retired Teachers Association will meet on Tuesday, July 8, at 11:30 a.m. at the Paulding Pancake House. The group will be celebrating the induction of six new members into the Paulding County Hall of Fame. They are Caroline Arend, Dave Clapsaddle, Sam Hatcher, Becca Kohart, Suzanne Monnier and Sarah Franz. Each of these teachers has had 25 or more years of service to the students of Paulding County. The speaker for the meeting will be Kelly Snyder. Her topic will be Parkinson’s Disease.
