Concerned citizens, educators, parents, and students are invited to attend Funding Our Future . . . hosted at the Northwest Ohio ESC (NwOESC) on Wednesday, May 28 at 7:00 pm (doors open to the public at 6:30). The event will focus on understanding the proposed state budget’s impact on public school funding and its potential effects on rural Ohio communities. This nonpartisan gathering is intended to inform community members about projected changes and provide clarity on how these adjustments may influence curriculum standards, teacher resources, and critical services for students, including IEPs and 504 plans.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Audrey Giesige of Paulding, was named to the Dean’s Honor List at Cedarville University for Spring 2025. This recognition requires the student to obtain a 3.75 GPA or higher for the semester and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.
Paulding Exempted Village Schools held their annual staff appreciation breakfast on May 14, 2025. During the breakfast, eleven retirees were recognized and given a personalized crock, handcrafted by Sandy Dobbelaere.

Ohio Award for Children & Teens. A new report showed programs serving domestic violence survivors in Ohio are stretched thin, with hundreds of people who need help being turned away due to lack of shelter.
The Kiwanis Club of Paulding County was privileged to have Charity Meuleman (Defiance/Paulding Consolidated Job & Family Services) as the guest speaker at the May 8, 2025 club meeting. Charity came at the invitation of Corey Walker (Director, Paulding County Carnegie Library). Charity spoke to the Kiwanians about the need for Foster Families in Defiance and Paulding County Ohio and how to become a foster parent. Charity discussed the importance of fostering and how it can be life changing for families in time of need and struggle.
Dr. Mark Kleffner is the 2025 recipient of the Ohio State University at Lima’s Violet I. Meek Town and Gown Award. Kleffner will receive his award at a ceremony scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2025, in the G. Gilbert Cloyd Commons on the lower level of Galvin Hall.
