WesBanco, Inc. completes acquisition of Premier Bank

WHEELING, West Virginia - WesBanco, Inc. (“WesBanco”) (Nasdaq: WSBC), a diversified, multi-state bank holding company, today announced the successful closing of the previously announced acquisition of Premier Financial Corp. (“Premier”) (Nasdaq: PFC). The holding company closing was promptly followed by the merger of Premier’s subsidiary bank, Premier Bank, with and into Wesbanco’s banking subsidiary, Wesbanco Bank, Inc. (the “Bank”). With the closing of the merger, WesBanco appointed Zahid Afzal, John L. Bookmyer, Louis M. Altman and Lee J. Burdman, formerly directors of Premier, to the WesBanco Board of Directors.

Term limits resolutions filed in Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Representative Heidi Workman (district 72) and Senator Theresa Gavarone (district 2) have filed House Joint Resolution 3 (HJR3) and Senate Joint Resolution 6 (SJR6) for Ohio to join the states calling for a convention for proposing a congressional term limits amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The effort is being spearheaded by the nonpartisan, nonprofit, U.S. Term Limits (USTL).

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

President Ronald Reagan signed a Proclamation on February 26, 1987, to designate March as National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. The proclamation encouraged Americans to support people with developmental disabilities. The theme for 2025 is “Creating Pathways to Independence”. This theme focuses on helping people with developmental disabilities find opportunities for growth and self-advocacy.

Northwest State Community College Board of Trustees elects new officers

Archbold, Ohio – The Northwest State Community College Board of Trustees met in regular session on Friday, February 21st at the Archbold campus. As part of the meeting’s agenda, the Board elected its new Chair, Vice Chair and Second Vice Chair for the period of February 2025 to February 2026. Katrina DeGroff (Fulton County) was elected Chair, Mickey Schwarzbek (Defiance County) was elected Vice Chair, and Joel Miller (Henry County) was elected as Second Vice Chair by the Board. NSCC President Dr. Todd Hernandez offered remarks of gratitude for Sandra Barber, who served as Chair for the 2024-2025 period, for her ongoing dedication and years of service to the College.

Fugitive arrested in Hicksville

On 02/24/2025 at approximately 7:40 p.m., Hicksville Police Department Officers were dispatched to a Domestic Disturbance at 651 W. High Street, El Grande Estates in the Village of Hicksville. Adrian San Juan,age 19, and the mother of their child had engaged in a verbal argument. San Juan had been living in in Hicksville, and he is originally from the State of South Carolina. San Juan fled the area before officers arrived.
