OAKWOOD - Harold Williams, 94 of Oakwood, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2024 at the Laurels Healthcare Facility in Defiance. He was born January 25, 1930 in Oakwood, Ohio to the late Alonzo and Emma Williams.

LATTY, OH: Helen M. Stoller, age 101, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Country Inn Enhanced Living, Latty, OH. Helen was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1923 in Paulding Co., OH to the late Roy and Marie (Boroff) Rhoad. On her birthday in 1942, she married Roy C. Stoller, who preceded her in death in 2012. They were married for 70 years. Helen spent her life creating a loving home for her family. Helen was the oldest member of the Latty Apostolic Christian Church. Helen is survived by her daughter, Jeanette (Tim) Poston, Gate City, VA; grandchildren: Michele (Dave) Orn, Brandon (Elecia) Wobler, Chad Stoller, Todd (Trista) Stoller; great grandchildren: Domanic Orn, DaKota Orn, Trinity Wobler, Zachary Wobler, Jacob Wobler, Regan Stoller, Trighton Stoller, Taelynn Stoller. Helen is also preceded in death by her sons, Alan and Stanley Stoller; grandson, SSG Zachary Wobler; brother, Lawrence Rhoad; sisters: Erma Zielke, Priscilla Schwartz, and Kathryn Clemens. Funeral service was held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Latty Apostolic Christian Church with church clergymen officiating. Burial will follow in Latty Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery. Visitation was from 2:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Latty Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall. There was also visitation from 12:00 P.M - 1:00 P.M. on Sunday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to an organization of the donor’s choosing. WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI; formerly of GROVER HILL, OH: Mark Ruble, age 56, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at his home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Mark was born on November 6, 1967, in Van Wert, Ohio, to Gene H. and Ramona (Stuart) Ruble. He was a 1986 graduate of Wayne Trace Jr./Sr. High School. Mark enjoyed collecting trinkets and telling stories. He had many fond family memories. There wasn’t much that Mark loved more than his cat “Nickles”, except for his beloved Loretta Lynn. He was truly her biggest fan and shared his love of Loretta to anyone that would listen. Mark is survived by his mother, Ramona; brother, Brian (Deb); nephew, Nick (Kerry) all of Grover Hill; niece, Becky Ruble, Grimesland, NC; and great niece and nephews, Venna, Brooks and Ross Ruble. He also leaves behind many great memories with his lifelong friend, George Felty. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Gene in 2022. Eugene “Gene” Scherer, 89, of Grover Hill, Ohio, died at 4:28 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Vancrest of Holgate. Gene was born August 13, 1934, in Grover Hill to the late Henry and Nellie (Linnabary) Scherer. Gene is survived by his brother, Robert (Ruth) Scherer of Continental; and five nieces and nephews: Howard L. Rayle, Bobbi (Paul) Matson, Diana (Bill) Vocke, Kathy (Dave) Nemire, and Greg (Denise) Scherer. He is also survived by many great and great-great-nieces and nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Gene was also preceded in death by a sister, Irene Rayle. Gene was a lifelong farmer and worked at GTE Sylvania. He loved his family farm and the many pets he cared for over the years, especially his cats. He was a member of Mt. Zion Church, Grover Hill, where he served with the food pantry. A graveside service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Mt. Zion Cemetery, 5326 Co Rd 151, Paulding. Arrangements are under the direction of HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood.
Jo Ann Phipps, 92, passed away Friday, July 26, 2024, at Van Crest of Payne. Jo Ann was born December 14, 1931, at home in Paulding County, Ohio to the late Cathryn (Price) and Adam Winans. On August 5,1950 Jo Ann married Jack (John W.) Phipps who passed away in April of 2016. Together they celebrated 65 years of marriage. To this union was born three children, Cathy Schoenauer, Margaret Schilb, and John Phipps (deceased). Jo Ann worked at Central Mutual Insurance, Payne Local Schools as secretary and later as Food Supervisor of Wayne Trace Local Schools. She also attended the University of Saint Francis and later served as Benton Township Clerk. Retiring Jo Ann found other ways to serve the community as a volunteer and the Dallas Lamb Foundation Board of Trustees. Jo Ann’s faith journey led her to membership at St Paul United Methodist Church and Divine Mercy Catholic Church. Jo Ann will be sadly missed by her daughters, Cathy (the late Ron) Schoenauer, Margaret Schilb (the late Rick Schilb); grandchildren, Scott (Audra) Schoenauer, Carrie (Aaron) McKinney, Aaron (Ashley) Schilb, Mikael (Meredith) Schilb, Johnny Phipps, Joseph Phipps, and Josh Schoenauer; great grandchildren, Jack Schoenauer, Sarah (Austin) Winebrenner, Emily (Connor) Sowers, Allison Dyson, Grace McKinney, Megan McKinney, Max, Charlie and Henry Schilb, Damon and Lilly Smith and Vivian Schilb and one great-great grandchild, Owen Winebrenner.
