A few weeks ago, the Gospel reading at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish was Luke 18: 1-8, the Parable of the "Persistent Widow". This Bible passage teaches the necessity of praying without becoming weary and never losing heart.

Homecoming highlights the power of place

Each fall, Ohio State’s Homecoming traditions invite us to reflect on the communities that shape us. This year, Ohio State Lima once again joined in the celebrations—crowning our own Homecoming royalty, marching in the parade, and standing proudly on the field at the ‘Shoe alongside representatives from every campus. Watching our students represent Lima on that big stage is a powerful reminder that our campus is an essential part of the Buckeye family, simultaneously contributing to the life of the university and to the strength of northwest Ohio.

Know Your Ballot: Village of Paulding

This year, the Village of Paulding has two issues before voters. The first is a permanent 1.1 percent municipal income tax for general municipal purposes. If this measure passes, Paulding residents would not see their local taxes increase much. Currently, Paulding has a 1% income tax and a .1% cemetery improvements tax, the latter of which expired on June 30. On an income of $2,000 a month, the total tax would be $22.00, whereas currently it is $20.00. The purposes included utilities and village services, such as garbage pickup.
