‘Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it’

It’s Labor Day again, and while it’s a day off from work for many people, for most, it’s simply the end of summer. There’s no thought given to the meaning behind the United States having a holiday devoted to workers and the events that led to it. Let’s heed the warning of philosopher George Santayana, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

Thanks for contributing during the 127 Yard Sale

I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of the people who contributed to this year’s 127 Yard Sale to benefit the Caring & Sharing Food Pantry. It was a mammoth undertaking this year, with more donations than ever before, falling in a timeframe where there it seemed there was more going on in the community than ever before. As of Sunday, we had topped out at just more than $5,000, a new record, beating last year by a grand.
