Panthers sweep Cougars

PAULDING – The Paulding Lady Panthers opened the 2024 high school volleyball season with a straight set sweep of visiting Van Wert Monday night at the ‘Jungle.’ The maroon and white cruised to a 25-8 victory over the Cougars in the opening set before coasting to a 2512 win in the second set. Paulding then closed out the night by defeating Van Wert 25-17 in game three.

Archers fall to Knights

VAN WERT – Braylen Moreno shot a 40 and Zaine McMichael carded a 44 but it wasn’t enough as the Antwerp boys golf team fell to Crestview 171186 at Hickory Sticks Golf Course Monday evening. Griffin Kosch chipped in a 48 for the Archers with Draven Baumert and Dylan Hahn both recording a 54.

Raiders split at Pike Run

OTTAWA – Kyle Sutton shot a 37 to capture medalist honors and the Wayne Trace Raiders split by beating Riverdale but falling to Leipsic in action at Pike Run Golf Course Wednesday evening. The host Vikings won the match with a 166 to nip the Raiders, who finished with a 171.

Archers seventh at Indian Invite

WAUSEON – The Miller City Wildcats put a trio of players under 80 and rolled to the team championship at the Wauseon Indian Boys Golf Invitational Monday at Ironwood Golf Course. The Putnam County squad posted a 318 to win the tournament while Montpelier took second at 338 and Wauseon finished third with a 356.

Cougars nip Raiders

VAN WERT – Hayden Dowler shot a 38 and Keaton Foster posted a 39 to lead the Van Wert Cougars to a 161-169 win over Wayne Trace in boys golf action at Willow Bend Country Club Monday evening. Griff McCracken added a 40 for the Cougars and Carter Wright posted a 44.

Crosby leads WT to third place finish

CELINA – The Wayne Trace Lady Raider golf team made the trip to the Celina Lynx Golf Club on Friday as the red, white and blue took part in the Celina Girls Golf Invitational. Ella Crosby paced the way for the red, white and blue with a round of 92 to help Wayne Trace record a third-place finish in the team standings.
