Raiders sweep second GMC match

PAULDING – The Paulding Panthers returned to Keysor Field Friday night to host North Central from Williams County and the game was dominated by the maroon and white, scoring early and often in a 58-0 blanking of the visiting Eagles. Also in Paulding County Friday night, Wayne Trace saw a late lead disappear in the final minute as the Raiders fell to Spencerville 28-27 while Antwerp dropped a 55-6 decision to Edon.
All three county schools saw cross country action over the weekend as teams took part in meets in Wood and Putnam Counties. Wayne Trace took part in the Mel Brodt High School Cross Country Invitational at Bowling Green State University On the boys side, Eli Treece led the Raiders with a time of 18:18.30 (80th) and Jaxson Cook posted a time of 20:11 (177th).
All three Paulding County schools picked up victories in action last week as Antwerp, Paulding and Wayne Trace all recorded wins. In Antwerp, the Lady Archers held off visiting Montpelier for a five-set win over the Locomotives.

A pair of Paulding County football teams opened the 2024 high school football season with victories Friday night as Antwerp and Paulding each recorded victories. The Archers visited Williams County and came home with a 34-0 victory over Montpelier behind 162 yards passing from quarterback Derek Hines.

ANTWERP – Lincolnview traveled to Antwerp Saturday evening for a high school volleyball battle with the visiting Lady Lancers sweeping the Archers in straight sets. The blue and gold took the opener 25-11 before holding off the host Archers for a 25-22 victory in the second set.
DEFIANCE – Cross country teams in Paulding County opened their seasons on Saturday as Antwerp and Paulding took part in the Defiance Early Bird Invitational while Wayne Trace made the trip to the Celina Rotary Invitational.
