HAROLD FRANKLIN WILLIAMS

OAKWOOD – Harold Williams, 94 of Oakwood, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2024 at the Laurels Healthcare Facility in

Defiance. He was born January 25, 1930 in Oakwood, Ohio to the late Alonzo and Emma Williams. He graduated from Oakwood High School in 1948, then served proudly in the Navy and Navy Reserves. He met and married Ruth Stahl of Grover Hill on February 4, 1950. He was employed at Defiance General Motors for 30 years and retired in 1980. He worked part time for the Oakwood Postal Service but volunteered in a variety of ways in the community. He was on the town council, local school board, and coached Little League Baseball. He was a faithful, active member of the Oakwood Methodist Church (now known as Oakwood Community Church) in Oakwood where he participated in every aspect of the church life including singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School and working for the many church missions. Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; his siblings: Bill Williams, Gladys Klein, Junior Williams, Glen Williams, Grace Thrasher, Mary Copsey, Abe Williams, and Joyce Buchanan; his beloved grandson, Morgan Bussing; and his son-in-law Chris Bussing. Harold is survived by his sons and their wives: Doug (Jane) Williams of Rossford, Ohio, Dave (Wendy) Williams of Copley, Ohio; and daughter Dawn Bussing of Pelham, Alabama, his sister-in-law, Nancy Williams and brother-in-law, Loren Sidle. Also surviving are grandchildren: Derek (Anne) Williams, Dustin (Jen) Williams, Erin (Jason) Kocab, Julie (Scott) Jones, Danielle (Ronnie) Bacon, Deede (Andrew) Winch, Drew (Jessica) Williams, Meghan (Nate) McGillivray; and great-grandchildren: Erick and Blake Williams, Cole and Kellan Kocab, Mia and Nadia Williams, Ethan and Emma Jones, Emma Caroline Tinsley, and Jazmyn Azan of Florida. He is also survived by many special nieces and nephews who enriched his life. A Celebration of Life will be held August 17, 2024 at Oakwood Community Church with visitation from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with the service to follow at 1:00 p.m. A luncheon will be provided after the service in the church fellowship building followed by a graveside service with military honors at Sherman Cemetery, Oakwood.
