PAULDING, OH: Jack R. Hoffman, age 88, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Vancrest of Payne.
Jack was born on April 18, 193,7 in Noble County, IN to the late George W. and Pearl (Ludwig) Hoffman. On March 18, 1956 he married Phyllis A. Smith, who preceded him in death in 2009. Jack worked for Johns Manville, Hartzog Lumber, and the Paulding County Highway Department. He was the owner of Hoffman Excavating. Jack was a “Jack of all trades”. He loved anything involving motors and wheels. Later in life, he was a Cushman scooter enthusiast.
Jack will be lovingly missed by his daughters: Denise (Duane) Renollet, Cecil, OH; Linda (William) Miller, Spencerville, IN; Jackie (Bryan) Hanlon, New Haven, IN: sister, Patricia (Ivan) Arend, Paulding, OH; grandchildren: Stephanie Renollet, Lisa Bidlack, Jared Renollet, Brittany Fleckenstein, and Andrew Miller; 7 great grandchildren; his dog, Brutus.
Along with his parents and wife, Jack was preceded in death by two infant children; brother, George J. “Junior” Hoffman; half siblings: Basil Hoffman, Violet DePew, Dorselene Gunderman, Deloris Stoller; his beloved dog, Oscar.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Den Herder Funeral Home with Pastor Ric Beals officiating. Burial will follow in Paulding Memorial Cemetery, Paulding, OH.
Visitation will be from 11:30 A.M. until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
