Pedestrian killed by train in Defiance

On 01/15/2025, at approximately 1315 hours, the Defiance Police Department responded to the Ottawa Avenue CSX railroad crossing in the vicinity of Douglas and Hopkins, to a report of pedestrian possibly being struck by a train. Shortly after our arrival, a body was found. The identity of the deceased is pending notification of the family, and the autopsy report, being conducted by the Lucas County Coroner’s Office.

Perry St. Fire displaces three apartments

The Paulding Fire and EMS was dispatched to a working fire at 117 W. Perry St. in Paulding, Ohio, at 11:34 a.m. Upon arrival, first responders from the Paulding Police Department, Paulding EMS and the Paulding County ODNR officer helped to evacuate the tenants of the four apartments.
