Cream Pie

• 3/4 cup white sugar • 1/3 cup brown sugar • 1 tablespoon flour • Pinch salt • 1 cup cream • 1 cup scalded milk • 1 teaspoon vanilla • 2 eggs, separated • 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie crust Mix together white sugar, brown sugar, flour, and salt; then mix in cream, milk, vanilla, and egg yolks. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until foamy, then fold into cream mixture.

Monday’s day-in-the-life diary

4 a.m. My alarm rings and I get up to start another day. Daughter Verena gets ready to go across the road to stay with daughter Loretta and her boys until Dustin comes home from work. I always watch at the door to make sure she gets across the road and to their house okay.

Matt Miller speaks on state of Paulding Co. Kiwanis

The Kiwanis Club of Paulding County was privileged to have Matt Miller, Assistant Paulding County Prosecutor, as the speaker at the September 19, 2024, club meeting. Matt also serves as the Secretary for the Paulding Kiwanis Club. He spoke to the group about the State of the Club as well as the upcoming elections for new club officers.

Public weighs in on proposed gas rate hike

LIMA—Enbridge Gas Ohio, formerly Dominion Energy, has submitted a request to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) for a 30% increase in natural gas distribution charges. This could lead to typical residential customers paying over $100 more annually starting this year if approved.

Paulding Village Council discusses electric aggregation vote, water leak

PAULDING – Paulding Village Council heard a request related to a costly water leak and several status updates at its regular meeting Monday, September 23. Several times during the meeting, officials referred to the public information meeting on Electric Aggregation, set for 5 p.m.

RENEE L. TAYLOR

ST. PETERSBURG, FL, formerly of PAULDING, OH: Renee L. Taylor, age 69, passed away Thursday September 12th, 2024, peacefully in Saint Petersburg, Fl. On October 24th, 1975, she married the love of her life, Jim Taylor who preceded her in death on September 1st, 2022. Renee is survived by a son, Bret L. (David A. Wilber) Taylor of St. Petersburg, Fl. Renee is also survived by a brother Randy Huffine and a sister Linda Stimer, both of Michigan. Renee was preceded in death by a daughter Andrea Renee Taylor. She was also preceded by her mother and father Ivan (Betty Silveus) Watters of Michigan, and her mother and father in-law Leland (Bertie Miller) Taylor of Oakwood, Ohio. Renee and her husband Jim shared a lifelong passion of raising and racing horses. Renee was a true born caregiver and spent many years working as a nurse at the Paulding Co. Hospital. She loved to be on the water and under the sun. She had a zest and curiosity for life that couldn’t be diminished by any adversity. She loved her nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews beyond words and relished in telling anyone who would listen about their latest professional, academic, or sports achievement. She was also blessed in the last years of her life to have the love and care of Benjamin Anaya and James Yeager, whom she loved as sons. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Den Herder Funeral Home with Andrea Fry Quigg officiating. Burial will follow in Sherman Cemetery, Brown Township, OH.
