It is no secret to anyone that follows me on Facebook that I am a big Caitlin Clark fan. For those of you who do not know who she is, Clark is in her first year of playing basketball as a point guard in the WNBA for the Indiana Fever.

Thinking about the election…

I’ve tried to make it a practice not to express too much of a political stance on the Opinion page. I don’t want people of either political side to feel that their voice is not appreciated.

Dealing with Weather & Cutting Costs

For most farmers, the weather has turned dry with corn and soybeans leaves drying down. A good August rain can add bushels to soybeans and help fill out the corn. While some farmers have received adequate rain this year, the weather patterns have been fickle. Most areas are in a drought now. It seems like the same areas get rain, perhaps too much at times while other areas get missed. A good explanation for this is that good growing crops that got early rain are transpiring more water into the atmosphere, generating more moisture in those areas. Whatever the reason, it can be exasperating for those lacking rain.

The court’s opinion reinforces that this proposed amendment does in fact require the gerrymandering of Ohio’s legislative and congressional districts, and that’s something the dark money foreign billionaire behind this bad idea has consistently tried to deny.

Latta statement on DHS report of nearly 300,000 illegal immigrant children missing in U.S.

INFORMATION SUBMITTED BOWLING GREEN, OH – Congressman Bob Latta (Ohio-5), who has traveled to the southern border four times, today released the following statement after the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released a report detailing nearly 300,000 illegal immigrant children are unaccounted for in the United States: “The open border policies of the Biden-Harris administration have led to a national security and humanitarian crisis unlike we have ever seen along our southern border. With the release of this DHS report, the pressing question remains: where are these missing children? It is deeply disturbing that, according to the report, Immigration and Customs Enforcement have ‘no assurance’ these missing immigrant children are ‘safe from trafficking, exploitation, or forced labor.’ This is completely unacceptable. The Biden-Harris administration must be held accountable for this extreme dereliction of duty.” Excerpt from the DHS report: “As of May 2024, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had not served a Notice to Appear (NTA) or scheduled a court date for more than 291,000 unaccompanied migrant children (UCs).
