Ohio State Highway Patrol investigating fatal crash on U.S. Route 24

NAPOLEON TOWNSHIP, Ohio – On September 2, 2024 at approximately 1:23 P.M. the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Defiance Post was dispatched to a three-vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of U.S. Route 24 and County Road 17D, in Napoleon Township, Henry County.

Defiance College announces 1850 Promise

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College announces its newest program, the 1850 Promise, which expands on its initiative to make college affordable for all. The 1850 Promise is specifically designed for eligible area high school students to earn a debt-free bachelor’s degree. The program is an addition to the DEFIne Your Future program the college announced last October. DC is recruiting now for the 1850 Promise program that will start in the 2025-26 academic year. Students eligible for the program are those who have earned a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher, and qualify for the Ohio College Opportunity Grant (OCOG) through the Free Application for Student Financial Aid (FAFSA). Other requirements for the program include maintaining commuter status and permanent residence in one of seven counties: Defiance, Henry, Fulton, Putnam, Paulding, VanWert, and Williams.

Award-winning artist Ned Bustard’s work to be exhibited at Schnormeier Gallery

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — Mount Vernon Nazarene University is pleased to announce the upcoming exhibit, Kid’s Books & Other Holy Things, showcasing the thought-provoking work of acclaimed illustrator, graphic designer, author, and printmaker Ned Bustard. The exhibition will be held at Schnormeier Gallery from Sept. 2 to Oct. 18, offering an inspiring exploration of art that weaves together imagination, faith, and storytelling.

Butterscotch Pie

• 1 cup packed light brown sugar • 4 tablespoons cornstarch • 1/2 teaspoon salt • 2 cups milk • 2 egg yolks, beaten • 1 tablespoon butter • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract • 1 (9-inch) pie crust, baked In top of double boiler, combine brown sugar, cornstarch, salt and milk. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture starts to thicken, about 20 minutes.

Kiwanis learn about Job and Family Services

The Kiwanis Club of Paulding County was privileged to have Tiffany Kime (Deputy Director of Programs, Defiance/ Paulding Consolidated Job and Family Services) as the guest speaker at the August 29, 2024, club meeting. Tiffany came at the invitation of Bret Mack (Fiscal Officer, Paulding County Carnegie Library). Tiffany spoke to the Kiwanians about many of the different programs offered by Defiance/Paulding Consolidated Job and Family Service.
