The Pros and Cons of OHSAA’s Seven-Division Basketball System

High school basketball in Ohio has long been a source of passion, tradition and statewide pride. The road to a state championship has produced unforgettable moments and legendary teams, and the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) has historically tried to balance competition with fairness. However, the recent expansion of boys’ and girls’ basketball to seven divisions has sparked debate across the state, with coaches and fans weighing the benefits of greater opportunity against the downsides of logistical challenges and a diminished postseason experience.

Butchering day at the Eichers

We are having beautiful spring weather lately. It sure gives a person spring fever, although it’s really not too long before the calendar says “spring begins”. Yesterday I took advantage of the lovely weather and washed a lot of the bedding along with the usual laundry. It dried so nice and the wind made the bath towels so fluffy for being line-dried. The temperature reached sixty-five degrees and the sun was out all day. The time change made all the clocks jump an hour ahead on Sunday so the nice weather at least helped make the change a little easier. 

Paulding FFA Chapter Celebrates National FFA Week

PAULDING - From February 18-21, the Paulding FFA Chapter celebrated National FFA Week by having many events throughout the district. During this week, every day was a dress-up day for high school and this year, the elementary schools and the middle school were included, which was a huge success.

Camp Invention at Kiwanas

The Kiwanis Club of Paulding County was privileged to have Ashley Shepherd ,(Family and Children First Coordinator, OCTF Coordinator, 21st CCLC Coordinator at Western Buckeye Educational Center),as the guest speaker at the March 13, 2025, club meeting. Ashley came at the invitation of Lora Lyons,(Mayor of Payne, Ohio and fellow Kiwanian).

A lot of plastic and paper

This week, I’m taking the opportunity to clean up the room in my house known as “Manland.” It houses my collection of various nerdy things that I’ve accumulated over the years. I’m beginning to realize that it’s a lot of plastic and paper.
