Growing up, my Dad told me the best job I could ever have is working for the government for three clear reasons: stability, benefits, and impact. Perhaps unsurprisingly, this argument wasn’t terribly interesting to a high schooler craving to experience something new and different.

Social Security to reinstate overpayment recovery rate

The Social Security Administration (SSA) announced it will increase the default overpayment withholding rate for Social Security beneficiaries to 100 percent of a person’s monthly benefit. The Office of the Chief Actuary estimates this change will result in an increase in overpayment recoveries (i.e., a program savings) of about $7 billion in the next decade.

Chocolate Extravaganza Fiesta

It’s time for Chocolate again in Oakwood! The annual fundraiser for the Cooper Community Library will be held Tuesday, March 11 and Thursday, March 13 starting at 7 PM both evenings. Guests can expect 30 varieties of chocolate delicacies, beverages, door prizes, a favor, and an enjoyable night out with friends and family.

Stroker Etter places 3rd at State

Stroker Etter, the Paulding sophomore wrestler, placed 3rd at the Ohio State Tournament in the 144-pound weight class. He’s the first state placer for Paulding since 2008. He finished the season with a 54-5 record.
