PAYNE, OH: Rodger M. Carpenter, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, IN.

Rodger was born on October 13, 1951, in New Haven, IN to the late James and Maggie (Scott) Carpenter. Rodger proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On December 17, 1984, he married Jerri Badders, who survives. Rodger worked various construction positions during his life. He also worked for Pre-Stress Concrete in Decatur, IN, Taylor Glass in Payne, OH, Wortman Brothers in Van Wert, OH, and he was also a guard at SDI in New Haven, IN. Rodger loved go-karts, fishing, car and gun shows. His favorite pastime was “gardening”, which to Rodger meant having his seat “planted” in his recliner.

Along with his wife, Jerri, Rodger will be sadly missed by his son, Rodger M. Carpenter, Melrose, OH; daughters: Jodi (Kyle) Carlisle, Paulding, OH; Shannon (John) Houck, Defiance, OH; sisters: Becky Conley, Payne, OH; Patsy Mayer, Fort Wayne, IN: Robin Carpenter, Decatur, IN; brother, Scott Carpenter, Convoy, OH; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Rodger was also preceded in death by his brothers: Ty Carpenter, James “Danny” Carpenter, William Carpenter; infant sister, Minerva Dale Carpenter.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
