PAULDING, OH: Roland Wayne Ganger, age 84, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at the Gardens of Paulding surrounded by his family.
Roland was born on March 3, 1941 in Paulding County to the late Lerenzie and Margaret (Chehi) Ganger. In 1959, he graduated from Blue Creek High School. On October 10, 1964 he married Betty G. Commers. Roland worked in security at International Harvester/Navistar in Fort Wayne for 32 years until his retirement in 2003. Roland was an officer for the Paulding Police Department, eventually serving as Chief of Police for 7 years. Later in his career, Roland organized the first reserve unit for the Paulding Police Department serving as their licensed training officer. Roland was also an accomplished pilot. He obtained his pilot’s license before his driver’s license. He enjoyed flying his own plane, a Piper Cub. He was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Parish in Paulding. Roland loved horses, being outdoors, and spending time with his granddaughters and great granddaughter.
Roland will be lovingly missed by his wife, Betty G. Ganger, Paulding, OH; daughters: Tamara G. (Robert) Narvell, Highlands Ranch, CO; Cynthia G. (Richard) English, Paulding, OH; brother, John (Cheryl) Ganger, Paulding, OH; granddaughters, Kylee (Nick) Whitson and Abigail English; great grandchildren, Brynleigh Adams and Wes Whitson, who is to be born any day. Roland was very excited to meet his first great grandson.
Roland was also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and David Ganger.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Den Herder Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Paulding Township, OH.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in Roland’s memory to the Ronald McDonald House, First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), or Divine Mercy Catholic Parish, Paulding.
