This is the 80th National Newspaper Week. Its purpose is to highlight the crucial role that newspapers, particularly local newspapers, play in keeping the community informed about local news and issues.
Recently, I was talking with someone about Ford’s wages. Older UAW workers told CEO JimFarley, “None of the young people want to work here. Jim, you pay $17 an hour, and they are so stressed.” This was from an interview with journalist and biographer Walter Isaacson at the Aspen Ideas Festival recently.
On June 20, 2024, my best friend in the world died. Joel Carroll was a comics artist, known and admired by many other artists.

ince I started this job almost two years ago, I have wanted to be certain that our readers get their money’s worth. The price of Progress isn’t too much compared with many other newspapers across the country, but the concern is always that for what you spend, you get enough that it seems worth it.
Before I start, this is a very nerdy conversation about a comic book that maybe a dozen people care about. I just happen to be one of them. It also involves the multiverse, so that it might break your brain.
