Kimmel, Etter and Pumphrey advance to OHSAA State Wrestling tournament

Local wrestlers competed at the Hobart Arena in Troy, Ohio for the district tournament for the opportunity to advance to the OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament. Corbin Kimmel, Thor (Stroker) Etter, and Karmen Johnson took position on the podium after the competition. Corbin Kimmel, the 120-pound senior from Wayne Trace, ended as the district runner-up for his weight class. Stroker Etter, the 144-pound sophomore from Paulding, also ended as his weight class runner-up. Kamren Johnson, the 132-pound senior from Antwerp, completed his district tournament in fifth place.

County wrestlers advance to Districts

The Wayne Trace Raiders, Paulding Panthers, and the Antwerp Archers competed at the Lima Central Catholic Sectional Tournament on February 22, 2025. Of the wrestlers in the competition, thirteen wrestlers placed in the top four places of their weight classes to qualify for the district meet on February 28-March 1st at the Hobart Arena in Troy, Ohio.

Corbin Kimmel 4-time champion at Van Buren

The Wayne Trace wrestling team traveled to the 46th annual Van Buren Invitational which hosted 31 schools in the competition. Corbin Kimmel, the 120-pound senior, secured the win becoming a four-time champion of the tournament. In the 46 years of the tournament, Kimmel is only the 7th to achieve this success. Wayne Trace holds two of the seven four-time champions, something no other school has accomplished to date. Corbin Kimmel was also awarded the coveted Most Valuable Wrestler of the tournament due to his wrestling and completion of the championship mark.
